We are developing district-wide understanding and capacity so that all our students are members of classrooms that are inclusive learning communities. We are becoming more able to grow the strengths and meet the needs of students in their classrooms with their peers. We will provide appropriate supports and interventions whether a student has a diagnosis connected to a special education category or not. We are creating learning environments that enable students to develop a sense of belonging and ensure they see themselves in the curriculum. We know the improvements we make for vulnerable students or students with different interests and talents will benefit all students.

Some examples of the work of our plan are:

  • Fostering a growth mindset: all students can be successful
  • Shifting from pull-out to push-in supports so learning happens with peers in the context of classroom learning
  • Shifting from finding the right place for students to creating classroom communities for all students
  • Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity (SOGI) school leads team
  • Ease Everyday Anxiety Strategies for Educators (EASE) program K-12 and Mental Health Literacy (Gr 7-12) for the benefit of staff and students
  • Training for staff and community in creating trauma-informed resilient classrooms: Circle of Courage

Keeping Kids Safe Online from Sexual Exploitation

Mile 108 Elementary

<p class="editor-paragraph"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Thank you to presenters Allison, Lara, and Tatyana from Children of the Street for delivering workshops on child and youth exploitation. These workshops were delivered in schools and also streamed for SD27's rural and remote students. Students from grades 6-12 got to partake in workshops that discussed online sexual exploitation and sextortion, warning signs of online luring and grooming, the impacts of intimate image sharing, digital citizenship and permanency, online safety tips, as well as safe adults and ways to reach out for help. Resources were shared with students and staff. Workshops were also offered to staff, parents &amp; caregivers and service providers in collaboration with Denisiqi and the Child Development Centre. A big shout out to schools that hosted the presentations: 100 Mile Elementary (hosted grades 6 &amp; 7 from Forest Grove, Lac La Hache, Mile 108, and Horse Lake), Peter Skene Ogden (hosted grades 8-12, staff, parents &amp; caregivers), Columneetza (hosted grades 7-9 and grade 6s from Marie Sharpe, Nesika, and Cataline), and Lake City Secondary (hosted grades 10-12, parents and caregivers)!</span></p><table class="editor-table" style="width: 100%; table-layout: fixed;"><colgroup><col style="width: 50%;"><col style="width: 50%;"></colgroup><tbody><tr><th class="editor-tableCell editor-tableCellHeader" style="border: 1px solid black; vertical-align: top; text-align: start; background-color: rgb(242, 243, 245);"><p class="editor-paragraph"><img src="/images/bfa0f1a9-efb2-48b3-9af8-2eecf9c0f98e?fingerprint=ppb20260519171341" alt="Keeping Kids Safe Online from Sexual Exploitation" width="100%" height="inherit" style="width:100%;height:inherit;display:inline-block"></p><p class="editor-paragraph"><br></p></th><th class="editor-tableCell editor-tableCellHeader" style="border: 1px solid black; vertical-align: top; text-align: start; background-color: rgb(242, 243, 245);"><p class="editor-paragraph"><img src="/images/51c68cb5-3e47-4e48-a0bf-2169ab9aedf7?fingerprint=ppb20260519171341" alt="Keeping Kids Safe Online from Sexual Exploitation 2" width="100%" height="inherit" style="width:100%;height:inherit;display:inline-block"></p><p class="editor-paragraph"><br></p></th></tr></tbody></table><p class="editor-paragraph"><br></p><p class="editor-paragraph"><br></p>

Thank You to Our Local RCMP

Mile 108 Elementary

<p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">We are grateful for the ongoing support of our local RCMP in keeping our school community safe and connected. Their diligent patrols help slow traffic, monitor parking lots, and ensure our bus zones remain safe for students and families. Just as importantly, RCMP members are regularly in our school building positive relationships with students through fun, friendly, and supportive interactions. Caring Through Creativity

Mile 108 Elementary

<p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Our Kindergarten, Grade 1, and Grade 2 students have been learning about Love (Eagle), one of the Seven Grandfather Teachings. They explored this teaching through hands-on activities, including stringing popcorn and crab apples—connecting learning, creativity, and care for one another.</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph"><img src="/images/ff66d417-66a7-4881-8528-7928b8be5e06?fingerprint=ppb20251217200130" alt="Caring Through Creativity Maria Telford" width="530" height="398" style="width:530px;height:398px;display:inline-block"></p><p class="editor-paragraph"><br></p>

Getting Started in a Good Way

Mile 108 Elementary

<p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">We were thrilled to welcome students back on September 3rd! To start our year in a good way, we gathered in the gym as a community of learners—committed to creating a safe and caring school where everyone feels important and valued. We introduced our Term 1 whole-school theme: Love - Kindness and Compassion. Each student designed an eagle feather to contribute to a collaborative heart mural, symbolizing how we are all connected. The inspiring words and illustrations from Be A Good Ancestor are guiding our conversations and encouraging us all to be thoughtful, caring citizens.</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr"><br></p><p class="editor-paragraph"><img src="/images/423a8a52-42ae-4db1-900a-9c03c46710a2?fingerprint=ppb20251217033943" alt="Screenshot 2025 09 15 120539" width="560" height="458" style="width:560px;height:458px;display:inline-block"></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr"><br></p>

Humility

Mile 108 Elementary

<p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Our theme for Term 2 is Humility (Wolf). As a whole school, we are exploring the connections between the Circle of Courage, our Code of Conduct, and the principle of humility (wolf) - recognizing that our words and actions affect not only ourselves but also those around us. It is about taking responsibility and growing from mistakes and with each other.</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Our shared art project visually represents the power of collective responsibility, demonstrating that when we work together with good intentions, kindness, and respect, we achieve more and foster a stronger sense of well-being for everyone.</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph"><img src="/images/255cdbd8-c4ab-4bbc-8cae-5166780b3ef9?fingerprint=ppb20251217033808" alt="Humility" width="709" height="917" style="width:709px;height:917px"></p><p class="editor-paragraph"><br></p>
